Glenn Bell, PE, SE, SECB

Glenn R. Bell is Chief Executive Officer of Simpson Gumpertz & Heger Inc. (SGH), a nationally recognized structural design and consulting engineering firm with offices in Boston, San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, and Washington DC. Mr. Bell holds a BS in Civil Engineering from Tufts University and MS in Structural Engineering and Structural Mechanics from the University of California at Berkeley. He has been employed at SGH since 1975, starting as an entry-level engineer and advancing over the years to his current position. In his employment at SGH, Mr. Bell has been responsible for major works in structural engineering, involving the design of new, complex structures and the investigation of structural distress and failure. He was Project Manager for design of Spaceship Earth, the geodesic sphere at Walt Disney World Epcot Center and Co-principal Investigator of SGH’s study into the 1981 walkways collapse at the Hyatt Regency, Kansas City. Recently, Mr. Bell was a member of SGH’s team to perform a progressive collapse analysis of the World Trade Center 1 and 2 Towers for the National Institute of Standards and Technology.

Aine Brazil, PE, SECB

Aine Brazil is a Managing Principal of Thornton-Tomasetti Group, Inc. Throughout her 28 years experience she has been responsible for the design and construction of high-rise office and residential buildings, hotels, air-rights projects with long span transfer systems, hospitals and parking garages. In 1999 Ms. Brazil was named one of ?New York’s 100 Most Influential Women in Business?by Crain’s New York Business. She was also featured in a New York Times article entitled “More Engineers in Hard Hats and Heels,?which explored the hurdles she overcame as a woman in the construction industry. Ms. Brazil has authored numerous technical papers and lectured in Universities throughout the country. Ms. Brazil holds a B.S. degree in Engineering from the University College in Galway, Ireland and a M.S. degree in Engineering from the Imperial College of Science and Technology in London.

Leslie E. Robertson, PE, CE, SE, SECB

Amongst many other structures, Dr. Robertson is responsible for the structural design of the World Trade Center ( New York), the United States Steel Headquarters ( Pittsburgh), the Bank of China Tower (Hong Kong), and the Puerta de Europa ( Madrid) as well as exceptional museums and the award-winning Miho Museum Bridge ( Japan). He received the IStructE Gold Medal, the Gengo Matsui Prize as the outstanding Structural Engineer in the world, the AIA Institute Honor; and was recognized as ENR's Construction 'Man of the Year'. He is a member of the National Academy of Engineering, has been awarded four honorary doctorates, currently is teaching at Princeton University, and is Distinguished Engineering Alumnus of the University of California, Berkeley. He received ASCE’s Outstanding Projects and Leaders (OPAL) Award, AISC’s J. Lloyd Kimbrough Award, Tokyo Society of Architects Honorary Fellowship and Medal, and is the first recipient of the Henry C. Turner Award and of the Fazlur Rahman Kahn Medal.

Jim Rongoe, PE, SECB

Mr. Rongoe established his consulting firm in 1980 and has been engineer of record several hundred buildings. Past projects include the design of various type of commercial, industrial, retail and residential projects, such as schools, hospitals, and condominiums and athletic facilities. He also has extensive experience in rehabilitation work of existing structures as well as investigations of failures of existing structures. He is considered by the American Institute of Steel Construction as an expert in investigations of steel roof structures.

John Shipp, SE, PE, SECB

Mr. John Shipp is a California-licensed civil and structural engineer with over 40 years of diversified professional experience. He has performed structural analysis and design, site-adaptation and proto-typical facility design, and seismic retrofit design of various commercial, industrial, historical, residential, and public projects. These projects have included municipal, commercial, residential, and industrial buildings, high-rise office and medical buildings, modular structures, offshore structures, petrochemical plants, and nuclear facilities. Mr. Shipp has also managed and provided technical oversight on a variety of new design projects involving equipment foundations iphone 5 cases for cheap, supports and platforms, as well as retrofit design of anchorage, bracing, and restraints for equipment subject to earthquake forces. His broad and diversified experience includes serving as an expert witness on the structural performance of buildings and related non-structural elements (such as curtainwalls, cladding, architectural features, equipment, etc.) during earthquakes, and expert witness on structural and construction deficiencies associated with new and existing construction. Prior to joining Exponent, Mr. Shipp was Vice President--Design Services at EQE (now ABS Consulting).
